A coal‑laden truck lost control and plunged into the Uchehara‑Ghorachatra river near Umaria in Madhya Pradesh. According to local reports, the vehicle’s headlights went out, causing the driver to veer off the road and the truck to tip into the water.

Both the driver, identified as Bhagwan Das, and the helper, Sialal, were trapped inside the overturned cab. Emergency responders arrived promptly, extracted the driver and rushed him to Pali Hospital for medical attention.

The helper remained stuck for approximately nine hours. Rescue teams later deployed a crane to lift the truck and free him, after which he was also taken for medical evaluation.

Authorities have opened an inquiry into the incident, focusing on the reported headlight failure and road conditions that may have contributed to the accident.
