After three days with no leads in the death of 15‑year‑old Mithun in a Jasola open drain, Delhi CM Rekha Gupta ordered the responsible officer to be suspended within an hour.
Delhi's Chief Minister Rekha Gupta expressed deep sorrow and anger on Monday over the unresolved death of 15‑year‑old Mithun, who fell into an open drain in the Jasola area. Despite three days of investigation, police have not located any trace of the boy or identified the circumstances leading to the tragedy.
In response, the CM issued a stern directive to the chief secretary, ordering the immediate suspension of the officer deemed responsible for overseeing the site and the rescue operation. She stipulated that the suspension order must be executed within one hour of the instruction.
The incident has sparked public outcry in the capital, with residents demanding better safety measures for open drains and faster emergency response. Authorities have pledged to review existing protocols to prevent similar accidents in the future.
