Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu said the Pasighat Smart City project is integral to achieving a developed India by 2047.
Chief Minister Pema Khandu highlighted the Pasighat Smart City initiative as a cornerstone of the "Viksit Bharat" goal that India aims to realise by 2047. Speaking at a state function, he emphasized that the city's transformation will showcase Arunachal Pradesh's role in the nation’s long‑term development agenda.
The Smart City project envisions modern infrastructure, digital services, and sustainable urban planning for Pasighat, the oldest town in the state. Planned upgrades include smart traffic management, renewable energy integration, and e‑governance platforms that will improve public service delivery for residents.
Khandu linked these local upgrades to the broader national vision of a fully developed country by the centenary of independence. He noted that the initiative aligns with central government schemes aimed at bridging regional disparities and fostering inclusive growth across the Northeast.
State officials indicated that funding will come from a mix of central Smart City grants, state allocations, and private‑sector participation. The project is slated to roll out in phases, with the first phase expected to be operational within the next three years, positioning Pasighat as a model for future urban development in the region.
