The Chief Justice alleges that the release of Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka is being delayed and that four sureties have been rejected.
The Chief Justice of India (CJP) has publicly raised concerns over what he describes as an undue delay in granting bail to two detainees, Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka. According to the CJP, the procedural hold-up is affecting the timely release of the two individuals, who are awaiting trial.
In addition to the alleged delay, the CJP highlighted that four sureties submitted on behalf of the accused were rejected by the court. The rejection of these sureties, he says, further complicates the bail process and raises questions about the consistency of the judicial handling of the case.
No official response from the court or the authorities handling the bail applications has been recorded at the time of reporting. The matter remains under scrutiny as legal representatives for the accused seek clarification on the grounds for the surety rejections and the overall pace of the release procedure.
