Members of the Cockroach Janata Party said police seized their phones and warned of possible hacking, reaffirming their demand for Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar’s resignation.

Activists Ashutosh Ranka and Saurav Das of the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) addressed a gathering of journalists after being detained by police. They said their mobile phones were taken away during the arrest and expressed concerns that the devices could be subjected to unauthorized surveillance or hacking.

The leaders reiterated that the party will continue its street‑level protest until Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar steps down and a transparent inquiry into alleged irregularities is launched. They stressed that the demand for the CEC’s resignation remains the core of their movement.

In addition to the phone‑hacking allegation, the CJP representatives accused the police of using excessive force on demonstrators and detaining student leaders without proper justification, calling for accountability across law‑enforcement agencies.
