Chief Justice of India Surya Kant emphasized that true justice goes beyond merely providing access to courts and must guarantee that citizens reap the benefits of their constitutional rights.

Chief Justice of India Surya Kant, speaking at a recent legal forum, underscored that the purpose of the judiciary extends far beyond granting parties the ability to appear before a court. He argued that justice should translate into tangible enjoyment of the rights guaranteed by the Constitution.

The CJI pointed out that many citizens, even after obtaining favorable judgments, continue to face obstacles in the implementation of those orders, effectively denying them the benefits of justice. He highlighted the need for robust mechanisms that ensure court decisions are executed promptly and fairly.

Surya Kant called for coordinated action between the judiciary, executive and civil society to bridge the gap between legal rulings and real‑world outcomes. He urged policymakers to strengthen enforcement frameworks and raise public awareness about legal rights, so that justice becomes a lived reality for all.

His remarks reflect a broader judicial focus on delivering substantive justice, not merely procedural access, and signal a push for systemic reforms aimed at making constitutional guarantees meaningful for every Indian.
