Chowna Mein opened new maternity and youth centres in the town of Miao, aiming to boost local health care and youth services.
Chief official Chowna Mein formally inaugurated two new facilities in Miao, a town in Arunachal Pradesh, on Monday. The ceremony was attended by local residents and representatives of the district administration, who highlighted the need for improved community services in the remote area.
The maternity centre is equipped to provide prenatal check‑ups, safe delivery services and post‑natal care for women in the surrounding villages. Health officials said the centre will reduce the distance pregnant women need to travel for essential medical attention.
Adjacent to the health facility, a youth centre has been set up to offer recreational spaces, skill‑development workshops and counseling services for the town’s young population. The centre aims to create constructive outlets for youth and support their educational and vocational aspirations.
Both centres are part of a broader effort by the state government to strengthen rural infrastructure and address gaps in health and social services. Officials expect the new facilities to have a positive impact on maternal health indicators and youth engagement in the region.
