China has announced that it will strengthen ties with India in the lead‑up to the forthcoming summit between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Xi Jinping.
The statement was issued as part of diplomatic preparations for the meeting, signalling a shift in tone from Beijing towards New Delhi.
While tensions over border disputes and trade have long strained the relationship, the announcement suggests China is open to constructive dialogue.
The Indian government has not yet issued a formal response, but the move could set a more collaborative tone for the upcoming talks.
