Bidar School Uses AI for Half-Yearly Exam Evaluation
Bidar: Chikkanagawadi Government Senior Primary School in Basavakalyan taluk has implemented artificial intelligence (AI) to practically evaluate answer sheets of the half-yearly examinations. Using the AI-based app Meridian Grader, answer sheets of students from grades 4 to 6 were assessed, yielding highly accurate results according to headmaster Simeon and teacher Raghavendra.
The app was developed by software engineer Immanuel from Hyderabad with assistance from fellow classmates, upon request from the school. It evaluated answer sheets in Kannada, English, Hindi, Science, Mathematics, and Social Science. Traditional evaluation was done initially, followed by AI assessment, which showed 95 to 98 percent accuracy. The app ensures impartial grading, saves teachers’ time, and allows for more frequent testing without pressure.
The AI app automatically reviews handwritten answers, awards marks, gives encouraging feedback for correct responses, and suggests reasons and improvements for errors. After evaluation, students’ scorecards and improvement reports can be downloaded in PDF format. Teachers and local leaders, including CRC Zakir Hussain, SDMC President Rajkumar Kandkure, Panchayat President Machhindra Devaba, and community leader Pundalik Gormade, praised the innovative use of modern technology for evaluation.
