The state of Chhattisgarh has emerged as the national leader in preserving every drop of rainwater, according to the latest results of the Jal Sanchay Jan Bhagidari programme. In the third phase of the scheme, the state secured the top rank among all Indian states, reflecting its aggressive community‑driven water‑saving initiatives.

Jal Sanchay Jan Bhagidari, a government‑run partnership model, encourages local bodies, NGOs and citizens to implement rainwater harvesting, check‑dams and other conservation measures. Chhattisgarh's performance indicates that its projects have generated the highest volume of stored water compared with other states during this phase.
