The Chhattisgarh government announced plans to draw roughly Rs 5.60 lakh crore into power generation, transmission and renewable projects.
State officials said Chhattisgarh is preparing a comprehensive roadmap to attract about Rs 5.60 lakh crore in fresh capital for the energy sector. The proposal covers new thermal, hydro and solar power plants as well as upgrades to the transmission network.
If realised, the inflow of funds is expected to raise the state’s installed capacity by several gigawatts and generate thousands of direct and indirect jobs, especially in remote districts where mining and industrial activity are already strong.
The government plans to invite both domestic and foreign investors through public‑private partnerships, offering incentives that align with India’s broader clean‑energy targets. Detailed project dossiers will be released in the coming weeks to facilitate quick approvals.
Analysts note that such a large commitment could position Chhattisgarh as a key energy hub in central India, potentially lowering power costs for local industries and households alike.
