The state of Chhattisgarh logged a 46% shortfall in October rainfall compared with the climatological average, according to the latest data.
The Indian Meteorological Department said Chhattisgarh received only about 54% of its usual October rainfall, marking a 46% deficit against the long‑term norm.
A shortfall of this magnitude is expected to put pressure on water reservoirs and could delay sowing operations for Kharif crops, officials noted.
State authorities are closely tracking the situation and have advised farmers to adopt water‑conserving measures while awaiting the upcoming monsoon season.
