The state government of Chhattisgarh announced an accelerated investment programme, citing improved security after the Red Corridor was declared safe. Officials aim to attract new projects and boost industrial growth.
At a recent Economic Times World Leaders Forum, Chhattisgarh's chief minister highlighted a renewed push to lure domestic and foreign investors. The administration said the declaration of the Red Corridor as "safe" removes a long‑standing security hurdle for businesses.
State officials outlined a series of incentives, including tax rebates, streamlined clearances and dedicated industrial zones, to accelerate capital inflows. The package targets sectors such as steel, agro‑processing, renewable energy and logistics, which are seen as pillars for the state's growth.
Security agencies have reported a marked decline in Naxalite activity across the region over the past year, prompting the government to label the area secure for commercial operations. This assessment is expected to reassure hesitant investors and unlock stalled projects.
The investment drive is part of a broader strategy to diversify Chhattisgarh's economy beyond its traditional reliance on mining and power generation. If successful, the state hopes to generate thousands of jobs and raise its contribution to the national GDP.
