Chhattisgarh ended the second day of their Ranji Trophy 2026‑27 encounter with Andhra at 216 for eight wickets, intensifying the battle for a first‑innings lead.
Chhattisgarh's batting line‑up managed to add 216 runs for the loss of eight wickets by the close of Day 2 in their Group C Ranji Trophy match against Andhra. The partnership building was punctuated by a few quick wickets, leaving the team short of a commanding total but still in contention for a first‑innings advantage.
Andhra, who bowled a disciplined spell, kept the run rate in check and claimed key dismissals, including the top order. Their bowlers' tight lines forced Chhattisgarh to rely on lower‑order contributions to reach the 216‑run mark.
The contest for the first‑innings lead now hinges on how many more runs Chhattisgarh can add before the innings concludes, and how effectively Andhra can respond with their own batting. Both sides will look to capitalize on the remaining session to set up a decisive position before the final day.
Cricket analysts note that the match could swing either way, with the pitch appearing to favor bowlers as the game progresses. The outcome of the next day's play will be crucial in determining which team secures the lead that often decides the points in the Ranji Trophy format.
