The state government has increased the capacity of the Atal School programme for children of laborers to 200 seats.

Chhattisgarh's education department announced that the Atal School scheme, which offers free education to children of informal‑sector workers, will now admit 200 students, up from its earlier limit.
The expansion targets the educational shortfall among children of daily‑wage laborers in the state's industrial and mining regions, where school enrolment has traditionally lagged behind the national average.
Authorities said the new seats will be allocated through a transparent selection based on family income and employment status, with schools continuing to provide a standard curriculum, mid‑day meals and transport facilities.
The move aligns with the central government's Atal Innovation Mission, aiming to deliver skill‑oriented learning to under‑privileged groups and improve literacy and future job prospects.
Implementation will involve local NGOs and the state labour department, which will monitor attendance and outcomes to ensure the scheme's effectiveness.
