Chief Secretary Vikas Sheel has directed that every farmer in Chhattisgarh be recorded through a fully digital Girdawari system as part of the state’s crop survey.
The Chhattisgarh administration has launched a state‑wide digital crop survey aimed at modernising agricultural data collection. The initiative replaces the traditional paper‑based Girdawari with a real‑time, GIS‑enabled platform that records land use, crop type and farmer details.
Chief Secretary Vikas Sheel emphasized that the survey must achieve 100 percent coverage, urging district officials to ensure every cultivator is entered into the system. He highlighted that complete digital registration will improve the accuracy of subsidy allocation, crop insurance and policy planning.
Implementation will rely on mobile applications, handheld devices and satellite imagery, with training programmes scheduled for agricultural officers and extension workers. The administration has set a six‑month deadline for full enrolment, after which the data will be integrated with the state’s land‑record database.
Officials expect the digital Girdawari to streamline grievance redressal, reduce duplication of records and provide a reliable baseline for future agricultural interventions across Chhattisgarh.
