The Chhattisgarh government has set a target of attracting Rs 5.6 lakh crore in energy investment to develop 15 GW of green power capacity.
The Chhattisgarh state administration announced a strategic plan to draw Rs 5.6 lakh crore in fresh capital for the energy sector. The investment drive is focused on expanding the state's renewable power generation to a total of 15 gigawatts, a significant increase over current capacity.
The funding is expected to come from a mix of public and private sources, including domestic investors and potential foreign partners. By channeling such a large sum into green projects, the government aims to accelerate the rollout of solar, wind and other clean‑energy installations across the state.
If realised, the 15 GW target would position Chhattisgarh among the leading Indian states in renewable energy generation, supporting national goals of reducing carbon emissions and enhancing energy security. The plan also promises to create jobs and stimulate ancillary industries linked to clean‑technology.
State officials indicated that project approvals and clearances will be fast‑tracked to meet the investment timeline, though specific milestones were not disclosed in the announcement.
