Char Dham Yatra Halted Amid Heavy Rains in Uttarakhand

The Char Dham pilgrimage across Uttarakhand has been temporarily suspended as severe rainfall disrupts travel routes and poses safety risks.

The Char Dham pilgrimage, which traverses the holy sites of Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri and Yamunotri, has been suspended by authorities in Uttarakhand after a week of heavy rainfall.

Roads leading to the pilgrimage sites have been closed due to landslides and flooding, raising concerns about the safety of the thousands of devotees who had already begun the trek.

Many pilgrims have been stranded in nearby towns and have been advised to return to their homes or stay in temporary shelters while the situation improves.

Uttarakhand’s tourism department is monitoring weather reports and will resume the Yatra once the roads are cleared and conditions are deemed safe.
