In August, 2.31 lakh pilgrims visited the Char Dham circuit, marking the highest footfall in four years. Badrinath recorded the largest individual site attendance with about 1.2 lakh devotees.

The Char Dham circuit, comprising Badrinath, Kedarnath, Yamunotri and Gangotri, attracted 2.31 lakh pilgrims in August, according to the Uttarakhand government. This figure represents the highest pilgrimage count recorded in the past four years.

Badrinath emerged as the most visited site, drawing roughly 1.2 lakh devotees during the month. The surge in footfall was attributed to improved weather conditions and the easing of travel restrictions.

Authorities reported that the influx was managed through a coordinated effort between the state tourism department and local security forces. Measures included crowd control at key entry points and increased medical support on the pilgrimage routes.

The government plans to use the data to enhance infrastructure and streamline future pilgrimages, aiming to balance tourist safety with the preservation of the sacred sites.
