Centre pledges renewed push for EAPs after Meghalaya, Assam CMs meet Finance Minister

New Delhi – The Union Finance Minister, Nirmala Sitharaman, held a meeting with the chief ministers of Meghalaya and Assam to discuss the progress of Economic Assistance Packages (EAPs) for the North‑East region. During the talks, the centre reiterated its commitment to accelerate the rollout of these packages, citing the need to address developmental gaps in the area. The ministers reviewed the status of ongoing projects and identified bottlenecks that have slowed implementation. Sitharaman assured that additional resources and administrative focus would be directed to ensure timely delivery of benefits to the targeted states. The meeting concluded with a consensus to monitor progress closely and report back in subsequent reviews.
