The central government has pledged to ensure sufficient urea supply in Punjab by closely monitoring the market and taking timely measures.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare has announced that it will maintain a steady supply of urea in Punjab by actively monitoring the fertilizer market. The government will coordinate with state authorities and private suppliers to prevent any shortage.

Officials stated that the monitoring will involve real‑time data collection on urea stocks, prices, and distribution channels. This proactive approach aims to avert price spikes and ensure farmers receive the fertilizer they need for the upcoming sowing season.

Punjab’s farmers, who rely heavily on urea for wheat and maize cultivation, have expressed relief at the central commitment. The ministry emphasized that the strategy will be reviewed regularly and adjustments will be made as necessary.

The government will also keep an eye on import and export flows to maintain balance in the domestic market. This move is part of a broader effort to stabilize agricultural inputs across the country.
