The central government has sanctioned ₹336.62 crore for Meghalaya under Jal Jeevan Mission 2.0, a flagship programme to provide tap water to all households in India by 2024. The allocation will help Meghalaya expand its water supply network and upgrade existing infrastructure. Funds are earmarked for laying pipelines, building storage tanks and installing treatment plants across the state. Meghalaya officials expect the project to improve drinking water access and reduce waterborne diseases among residents.
