The Union government has cleared a fund of Rs 475.41 crore to modernise ten industrial training institutes in Jammu and Kashmir, a move welcomed by Lok Sabha MP Sunil Sharma.
The central government has approved a budget of Rs 475.41 crore for the upgradation of ten Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) across Jammu and Kashmir. The funding is aimed at modernising infrastructure, introducing new skill‑based courses and improving placement support for trainees.
Lok Sabha member Sunil Sharma publicly thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the allocation, saying it will boost vocational education and create better employment prospects for the youth of the region.
The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship will oversee the implementation, with the first phase expected to commence within the next quarter. Upgraded facilities are slated to include state‑of‑the‑art labs, digital classrooms and industry‑linked training modules.
Officials anticipate that the enhanced ITIs will help bridge the skill gap in the state, aligning local talent with national employment initiatives and attracting private sector participation in skill‑based projects.
