The Union Government has notified the appointment of nine practising lawyers as judges of the Punjab and Haryana High Court, as reported by Live Law.

The Ministry of Law and Justice issued a formal notification appointing nine senior advocates as judges of the Punjab and Haryana High Court. The decision, announced by the Centre, adds to the bench of the court that serves the states of Punjab, Haryana and the Union Territory of Chandigarh.

All nine appointees are seasoned practitioners with extensive experience in civil, criminal and constitutional matters. Their elevation is intended to fill pending vacancies and bolster the court’s capacity to manage an increasing caseload.

The appointments follow the standard procedure involving the collegium’s recommendation and the President’s approval, reflecting the government's effort to ensure a competent and diverse judiciary. The new judges are expected to assume office shortly after completing the requisite formalities.
