Central Railway Blames AC Trains for Mumbai Local Delays

Central Railway officials have explained that the frequent delays of Mumbai local trains are largely due to the recent introduction of AC coaches on several routes. The new coaches have attracted more passengers, leading to longer dwell times at stations and increased congestion on the tracks.

The railway board noted that the additional weight and the need for more careful boarding and alighting procedures have slowed down train operations. They also mentioned that the existing signalling and track infrastructure is not yet fully optimized for the higher passenger volumes.

To mitigate the problem, Central Railway is reviewing its timetable and is planning infrastructure upgrades, including the addition of more platforms and improved signalling systems. The board has also urged commuters to be mindful of the new schedules.

Passengers are advised to check the latest train timings and allow extra travel time during peak hours, as the delays are expected to continue until the planned upgrades are completed.
