The Central Bureau of Investigation has registered a complaint against the principal of Itarsi Central School-1, alleging she demanded ₹300,000 as a bribe to approve payment of ₹800,000 in pending bills.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has filed a First Information Report (FIR) against the principal of Itarsi Central School-1 in Madhya Pradesh, accusing her of demanding a bribe of ₹300,000 to approve the settlement of pending bills amounting to ₹800,000.

According to the complaint, the principal allegedly approached the school’s finance committee and requested the payment of the overdue invoices in return for a personal monetary benefit. The alleged bribe was to be paid before the school could clear its outstanding dues to contractors and suppliers.

The CBI’s investigation, which began after an internal audit raised suspicions, is now examining financial records, bank statements and communication logs to substantiate the allegations. The agency has also requested the school’s administrative officials to cooperate with the inquiry.

If the allegations are proven, the principal could face charges under the Prevention of Corruption Act and other relevant statutes. The case highlights ongoing concerns about corruption in public educational institutions across the state.
