CAR‑T cell therapy, a targeted treatment for advanced cancers, will be launched at PBM with the first dedicated centre opening in Bikaner, giving stage‑4 patients a new therapeutic option.

The Prakash Bhatia Medical (PBM) institute announced that it will commence CAR‑T cell therapy, a personalized immunotherapy, for patients with terminal-stage cancers. The programme will be rolled out with the inauguration of the first dedicated centre in Bikaner, Rajasthan.

CAR‑T therapy involves extracting a patient’s own T‑cells, genetically modifying them to recognise cancer cells, and reinfusing them to attack tumours. It has shown promise in several hard‑to‑treat malignancies and is now being extended to stage‑4 cases where conventional options are limited.

PBM officials said the Bikaner facility will be equipped with the necessary laboratory and clinical infrastructure to deliver the treatment safely. The centre is expected to become operational within the next few months, providing an additional line of care for patients who have exhausted standard therapies.

Health experts view the launch as a significant step for Rajasthan’s oncology landscape, potentially reducing the need for patients to travel to metropolitan hubs for advanced treatment. The initiative aligns with broader efforts to decentralise cutting‑edge medical services across the state.
