After evading authorities for more than two decades, cannabis trafficker Satyadev, who was living under the alias of a holy man, was arrested from an ashram in the Aron area of Guna district, Madhya Pradesh.
Police in Madhya Pradesh’s Guna district announced the capture of Satyadev, also known as Sarvesh and Bajrangdas, who had been wanted in a cannabis‑smuggling case for 21 years. The suspect had concealed his identity by adopting the persona of a baba and residing in an ashram located in the Aron region of the district.
A permanent arrest warrant had been issued by the court earlier, prompting a coordinated operation that led officers to the ashram. Upon arrival, the team verified the individual’s identity and took him into custody without incident.
Authorities said the arrest underscores ongoing efforts to dismantle long‑standing drug networks in the state. The case will now proceed through the judicial system, where Satyadev will face charges related to illegal cannabis trafficking.
The police have not disclosed further details about the ashram’s management or any other individuals who might have been involved.
The operation reflects heightened vigilance by law‑enforcement agencies in Madhya Pradesh following several high‑profile drug cases in recent years.
