The Comptroller and Auditor General has urged the Mizoram government to investigate the disbursement of 9.19 crore rupees allocated under the GIM scheme.

The Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) has formally requested the Mizoram government to conduct a detailed inquiry into the disbursement of 9.19 crore rupees that were earmarked under the Government Investment Management (GIM) scheme. The CAG’s notice, issued in a recent audit report, highlights irregularities in the allocation process and calls for a transparent investigation to ascertain the proper use of the funds.

The GIM scheme, designed to facilitate strategic investments in state infrastructure and development projects, has been a key tool for Mizoram’s economic planning. The CAG’s concerns stem from gaps in documentation and the lack of clear evidence that the funds were released to the intended beneficiaries.

Mizoram’s Chief Minister and Finance Department officials have acknowledged the notice and indicated that an internal review will be initiated. They have also stated that cooperation with the CAG will be provided to ensure compliance with audit recommendations.

The audit underscores the importance of stringent financial controls in state schemes and signals that any misuse of public money will be scrutinized closely by the central audit machinery.
