The Union Cabinet has cleared a package worth ₹2.79 trillion to boost rabi crop procurement prices, fund green energy projects and modernise Delhi’s traffic management system.
In a recent Union Cabinet meeting, ministers approved a comprehensive funding package totaling ₹2.79 trillion aimed at strengthening key sectors of the economy. The decision signals the government's intent to address agricultural pricing, climate goals and urban mobility in a single fiscal push.
A major share of the outlay is directed toward raising the minimum support price (MSP) for rabi crops, ensuring that farmers receive remunerative rates for wheat, barley and other winter cereals. The move is expected to stabilize farm incomes ahead of the upcoming sowing season.
Another portion of the funds will be channelled into renewable energy initiatives, including solar and wind projects, to accelerate India's transition to a low‑carbon economy and meet its international climate commitments.
The remaining allocation targets the capital's traffic management system, with investments earmarked for intelligent signalling, surveillance and infrastructure upgrades to ease congestion in Delhi.
