The Union Cabinet has approved land acquisition exemptions for defence and several key infrastructure projects, easing the process for strategic development.
The Union Cabinet, in a meeting held on Thursday, cleared land acquisition exemptions for defence and key infrastructure projects.
Under the new guidelines, projects that fall under the defence and strategic infrastructure categories will no longer be required to obtain prior land acquisition approvals, streamlining the development process.
The decision is expected to accelerate the construction of military bases, ports, airports and other critical infrastructure, thereby enhancing national security and economic growth.
Implementation of the exemptions will be overseen by the Ministry of Defence and the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, with a focus on ensuring compliance with environmental and social safeguards.
