New Delhi’s cabinet meeting approved a four‑lane, 105‑kilometre highway that will run between the towns of Damoh and Katni in Madhya Pradesh. The project, valued at approximately ₹4,470 crore, is expected to be executed under the state’s road development programme.
State officials said the new corridor will significantly improve regional connectivity, facilitating smoother movement of goods and passengers between central Madhya Pradesh and neighbouring districts. The upgrade replaces the existing two‑lane stretch, reducing travel time and enhancing safety.
Local MP Rahul Singh Lodhi, present at the announcement, thanked Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan for prioritising the infrastructure work. He highlighted the anticipated economic benefits for traders, farmers and commuters in the area.
The cabinet’s approval clears the way for detailed project reports, land acquisition and tendering processes to begin in the coming weeks. While a definitive completion date has not been disclosed, authorities aim to commence construction early next year.
