The Union Cabinet cleared a ₹2.79 lakh‑crore package that includes a higher minimum support price for rabi crops, the PM‑DHARA water‑conservation scheme and a new traffic‑management system for Delhi.
New Delhi, Sept 30 — The Union Cabinet gave its nod to a massive ₹2.79 lakh‑crore package aimed at bolstering agriculture, water management and urban mobility. The package proposes a hike in the minimum support price (MSP) for rabi season crops, a move intended to protect farmers’ incomes amid rising input costs.
Alongside the MSP revision, the cabinet approved the Prime Minister’s DHARA (Dhan‑Harit‑Aarambh‑Rashtriya‑Abhiyan) scheme, which focuses on water‑saving technologies and watershed development to improve irrigation efficiency across rain‑fed regions.
The third component of the package is a comprehensive traffic‑management system for Delhi, designed to integrate intelligent signalling, real‑time monitoring and public‑transport upgrades to ease congestion in the capital.
Finance Minister described the package as a “strategic investment” that addresses food security, climate‑resilient agriculture and urban infrastructure in a single framework. The measures are expected to be rolled out in phases starting early next year.
