The Union Cabinet gave the green light to infrastructure schemes worth ₹13,041 crore, covering new railway lines and highway upgrades.

New Delhi – In a cabinet meeting, the Union Government cleared infrastructure proposals amounting to ₹13,041 crore. The approved schemes focus on expanding the railway network and upgrading national highways, aiming to improve connectivity across the country. The projects are part of the government's broader push to boost capital spending on transport infrastructure. Officials said the initiatives will generate employment and support economic growth, though detailed timelines were not disclosed. The clearance paves the way for agencies to begin tendering and implementation processes in the coming weeks.

The rail component includes the construction of new tracks, station upgrades and signalling improvements, while the highway segment covers widening of existing roads and construction of new stretches. Both sectors are expected to benefit from increased private and public investment as the projects move forward.

Stakeholders anticipate that the infusion of funds will help meet the country's long‑term transport demand and reduce logistics costs, contributing to the government's target of enhancing the ease of doing business.
