Burqa-clad women caught stealing gold jewellery from Surat shop

Two women in burqas entered a jewellery store in Surat, pretended to be customers and walked out with gold items, police say.
Police in Gujarat reported that a theft took place at a gold jewellery shop in Surat. The suspects, both wearing burqas, entered the premises and presented themselves as ordinary shoppers.
According to investigators, the women concealed the stolen pieces on their persons and left the store without paying, taking several gold items.
Authorities have begun a formal investigation, reviewing CCTV footage from the shop and surrounding area. The suspects have been detained for questioning as the probe continues to determine the full extent of the loss and any possible links to organized theft rings.
