Burhanpur Traders Threaten Indefinite Strike Over Outside Purchases

On Tuesday, vendors at Burhanpur's main market declared that they will begin an indefinite strike starting that day. The move comes after growing anger over the increasing purchase of goods from outside the market, which traders say erodes local business and depresses prices. Market officials have said they are in discussions with the aggrieved sellers but have not yet reached a settlement; authorities warned that a prolonged shutdown could affect the supply of essential commodities across the district. The traders have urged fellow sellers to stop dealing with external sources and to sustain the strike until their demands for protection of local trade are met. No clear end‑date has been set, and the situation remains fluid as district administrators monitor developments.
