Bulldozers Demolish Illegal Dhabas in Sagar District, Freeing Government Land Worth Millions

In response to the Sagar liquor scandal, authorities used bulldozers to clear illegal dhabas and encroachments in Bhandari, Malothan and Shahgarh, removing structures along NH‑44 and sealing restaurants in Baheria.
The Sagar district administration in Madhya Pradesh launched a bulldozer operation after a liquor scandal exposed widespread illegal dhabas and encroachments.
Officials targeted Bhandari, Malothan and Shahgarh, where dozens of unauthorized dhabas had been operating for years. Bulldozers demolished the structures and cleared the land, which is now being returned to the state.
Along National Highway 44, several illegal constructions were removed, and the government sealed a number of restaurants and hotels in Baheria that had been operating without permits.
The Ministry of Rural Development said the action would free up land worth millions of rupees for public use and that further inspections would be carried out to prevent future violations.
