A Border Security Force (BSF) firing at the India‑Bangladesh frontier wounded a Bangladeshi teenager, prompting the Bangladesh Border Guard (BGB) to issue a strong protest.
The Border Security Force opened fire on a Bangladeshi youth near the India‑Bangladesh border, leaving the teenager with injuries that required medical attention. Local officials said the incident occurred during a routine patrol, but details about the exact location and time remain limited.
The injured youth was taken to a nearby health centre, where doctors confirmed non‑life‑threatening wounds. Indian authorities have not released a statement explaining the reason for the firing, and the BSF has yet to comment publicly.
In response, the Bangladesh Border Guard (BGB) lodged an official protest, describing the shooting as an unwarranted use of force and urging Indian counterparts to investigate the matter promptly. Diplomatic channels between the two neighbours are reportedly being used to de‑escalate the situation and prevent further border tensions.
