Two brothers in Kanpur's Sangam Vihar got into a violent clash during which one brother slit his own throat while three companions watched.
In the I-Block of Sangam Vihar, lane 17, two brothers who were residents of Kanpur were involved in a heated argument inside a room. The confrontation escalated quickly, leading one of the brothers to inflict a fatal wound on himself by cutting his own throat.
Three other individuals, who were staying with the brothers, witnessed the incident but did not intervene. Their presence turned the episode into a grim spectacle rather than a rescue attempt.
Local authorities were alerted to the scene shortly after the incident. Police arrived, secured the area and began an investigation to determine the circumstances that led to the self‑inflicted injury during the altercation.
The incident highlights concerns about domestic violence and the need for timely intervention in private disputes, prompting calls for community awareness in the densely populated neighbourhood.
