Bridge Construction Must Begin Within 15 Days, Says Jay Karnataka Warns of Road Blockade

NEED 24 NEWS

Devadurga: The Jay Karnataka organization has warned that a road blockade will be staged if the construction of eight bridges between Chikkahonakuni Cross and Sirwar on the Managuli–Bichchali Highway No. 61 is not commenced within 15 days.

In this regard, office-bearers of the Devadurga unit of Jay Karnataka submitted a memorandum through Tahsildar Nagamma Kattimani, urging the concerned authorities to immediately initiate the pending bridge works.

The road construction work from Chikkahonakuni Cross to Sirwar has reportedly been completed by the Karnataka Rural Infrastructure Development Limited (KRIDL). However, despite work orders being issued to contractors for the construction of around eight bridges along this route, the bridge works have not yet commenced. The organization expressed dissatisfaction over the delay and questioned the reasons for the inordinate delay.

For the construction of the bridges, around 200 feet of road work at each location has been left incomplete. This has been causing serious inconvenience to motorists travelling on the route. With the bridge works yet to begin and the road remaining incomplete, commuters are also facing the risk of accidents.

The organization urged the Public Works Department and KRIDL officials to take immediate action and commence the bridge construction works. It warned that if the works are not started within 15 days, a road blockade will be organized on the highway. The organization also stated that the concerned authorities and KRIDL would be responsible for any inconvenience caused to the public due to the protest.

Jay Karnataka Devadurga Taluk President Yellanagouda, Mustafa, Saddam Hussain and other office-bearers and leaders of the organization were present on the occasion.
