Officials began rehearsal drills in Delhi today as the city gears up to host the 2026 BRICS summit.
Delhi launched a series of rehearsal exercises on September 6, 2026 to test logistics, security protocols and venue readiness ahead of the upcoming BRICS summit. The drills, coordinated by the Ministry of External Affairs and the Delhi Police, covered crowd management, emergency response and inter‑agency communication at the newly constructed convention centre in the city’s central district.
Senior officials said the simulations involve mock delegations, media briefings and real‑time scenario planning to ensure seamless coordination among the six member nations. Participating agencies include the National Disaster Management Authority, the Central Industrial Security Force and local fire services, all of which practiced joint operations under a unified command centre.
The rehearsals are part of a broader effort to showcase India’s capability to host large‑scale international events. Organisers anticipate an influx of thousands of delegates and media personnel, prompting heightened security measures and infrastructure upgrades across Delhi. The final assessment report is expected next week, after which any required adjustments will be implemented before the summit’s official opening later this year.
