Construction firm Brahmaputra has signed a five-year Project Based Management Contract to develop National Highway 502A in Mizoram, aiming to improve regional connectivity.

Brahmaputra, a leading infrastructure contractor, entered into a five-year Project Based Management Contract (PBMC) with the Mizoram government to undertake works on National Highway 502A. The agreement, announced by both parties, outlines the scope of construction, maintenance and periodic upgrades of the highway over the contract period.

NH‑502A, which traverses key districts of Mizoram, is considered vital for linking remote towns to the state capital and facilitating the movement of goods and passengers. The project is expected to boost trade, tourism and overall economic activity in the region.

The contract stipulates that Brahmaputra will mobilise resources, manage subcontractors and ensure compliance with environmental and safety standards. Completion of the upgrade is slated for the end of the five-year term, subject to periodic reviews and performance assessments.

State officials have highlighted that the improved highway will reduce travel time, lower vehicle operating costs and enhance access to health and education services for communities along the route. The partnership reflects the government's focus on strengthening infrastructure under its broader development agenda.

Brahmaputra’s involvement marks a significant private‑sector contribution to Mizoram’s road network, aligning with national goals of expanding connectivity in the North‑East region.
