A boulder struck a moving Tempo vehicle on the Jammu‑Srinagar Highway, resulting in two fatalities and three injuries.

A boulder fell onto a moving Tempo vehicle on the Jammu‑Srinagar Highway, causing a fatal crash that left two people dead and three others injured. The incident occurred early this morning on a stretch of the highway that is frequently used by commuters traveling between Jammu and Srinagar.

Emergency services were dispatched to the scene within minutes. Rescue teams recovered the bodies of the deceased, while the injured were transported to nearby hospitals for treatment. Authorities confirmed that the vehicle was traveling at a moderate speed when the rock struck the front bumper.

The Jammu & Kashmir Police have launched an investigation to determine the source of the boulder and whether any negligence or foul play was involved. Preliminary checks suggest the rock may have come from a nearby slope that had not been properly secured.

Officials urged motorists to remain vigilant, especially during monsoon season when loose rocks are more likely to detach. The highway authorities are reviewing the safety measures along the route and may install additional barriers or signage to warn drivers of potential rockfall hazards.
