Boat capsizes near Gandhi Setu in Hajipur, three still missing

A boat collided with a bolder near Mahatma Gandhi Setu in Hajipur on Tuesday, sinking and leaving three of the ten passengers unaccounted for.
A boat carrying around ten passengers sank after striking a bolder close to Mahatma Gandhi Setu near Paya No. 9 in Hajipur, Bihar, on Tuesday. The collision caused the vessel to take on water rapidly and submerge in the Ganga.
Rescue teams from the district administration and local volunteers managed to pull seven people to safety. The survivors were taken to nearby medical facilities for basic check‑ups.
Three passengers remain missing despite ongoing search operations by the river police and disaster response units. Authorities have warned of potential hazards in the river stretch and urged the public to avoid non‑motorized vessels in the area until safety measures are reinforced.
