A freshly formed BJP delegation met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi, accusing the Congress party of politicising the Vande Mataram anthem.

New Delhi, August 22 — A newly constituted team of senior BJP leaders met Prime Minister Narendra Modi today to discuss the party’s stance on the Vande Mataram controversy. The delegation, assembled after recent internal reshuffles, used the meeting to reiterate the party’s view that the Congress is exploiting the national song for political gain.

During the discussion, BJP officials highlighted recent statements by Congress representatives that they said sought to portray the anthem as a partisan issue. The party’s spokesperson emphasized that Vande Mataram remains a unifying symbol and warned against any attempts to create divisions ahead of upcoming elections.

Modi, while acknowledging the concerns raised, called for a calm and respectful debate on national symbols. He reiterated the government's commitment to protecting the dignity of the anthem and urged all political parties to avoid inflammatory rhetoric.

The meeting concluded with the BJP team pledging to coordinate closely with the Prime Minister’s Office on future outreach and communication strategies related to the Vande Mataram matter.
