The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is racing against time to set up full‑strength booth‑level teams across Punjab ahead of the upcoming state elections. Party guidelines call for eleven active members at each of the 25,332 polling stations, a structure meant to boost ground‑level outreach and voter mobilisation.
According to internal data, the BJP currently has no functional team at more than 11,000 booths, leaving a gap of roughly 44% of the total constituencies. This shortfall threatens the party’s ability to monitor voter sentiment and execute its booth‑level campaign strategy effectively.
Santosh, a senior BJP official overseeing the Punjab mission, told party high command that a detailed report on the shortfall will be submitted within days. He indicated that the party is reallocating cadres from neighbouring districts and accelerating recruitment drives to plug the gaps before the election schedule tightens.
Party leaders acknowledge that the incomplete booth network could impact coalition dynamics, as allies will be watching BJP’s ground presence closely. The BJP has pledged to complete the team formation well before the final phase of the campaign, aiming to present a unified front across the state.
