The Bharatiya Janata Party has launched a new grassroots outreach program, setting up ‘chaupals’ in villages across Uttar Pradesh to engage voters directly.
New Delhi – The Bharatiya Janata Party announced a statewide initiative to establish "chaupals" – informal community gatherings – in villages throughout Uttar Pradesh. The move aims to create a platform where party workers can interact with residents, discuss local issues and convey the party's development agenda.
Party officials said the chaupal model draws on traditional rural meeting spaces, allowing a more personal dialogue than conventional rallies. By setting up these forums in multiple districts, the BJP hopes to strengthen its grassroots presence ahead of upcoming electoral contests.
The initiative is being coordinated by the party's state unit, which will provide logistical support and training for volunteers tasked with managing the chaupal sessions. Observers note that such localized outreach could influence voter sentiment in a state that remains politically pivotal for the party.
