The BJP criticised Rahul Gandhi’s claim that President Droupadi Murmu had accepted vote‑theft, calling it baseless and politically motivated.

The Bharatiya Janata Party issued a sharp response after Rahul Gandhi alleged that President Droupadi Murmu had accepted "vote chori" (vote theft). The party described the accusation as unfounded and an attempt to politicise the President’s office.

A senior BJP spokesperson said the claim was a distortion of facts and warned that such statements undermine democratic decorum. The spokesperson emphasized that the President, as the constitutional head of state, remains neutral and does not intervene in electoral matters.

Rahul Gandhi made the allegation during a public address, suggesting that the President had tacitly approved irregularities in the recent electoral process. The BJP refuted this, stating that no evidence supports the charge and that it is a tactic to divert attention from the party’s performance.

The exchange adds to the growing political friction ahead of upcoming elections, with both sides accusing each other of spreading misinformation.
