Independent candidate Hema Gahlot has lodged an objection against the BJP’s nomination of Monika Jain for Ward 4 in Ajmer’s municipal elections, citing unpaid municipal dues and doubts over her caste certificate.

The Ajmer Municipal Corporation’s Ward 4 has become a flashpoint in the city’s upcoming local elections after the Bharatiya Janata Party announced Monika Jain as its candidate. The nomination was made public ahead of the scheduled polling, positioning the seat as one of the most contested in the council.

Independent aspirant Hema Gahlot filed a formal complaint with the election authorities, demanding that Jain’s nomination be cancelled. In her petition, Gahlot highlighted two main grievances: the municipal corporation’s outstanding dues owed to her and questions regarding the authenticity of Jain’s caste certificate, a prerequisite for contesting the seat.

The objection has been submitted to the State Election Commission, which will examine the claims before confirming the final list of candidates. Election officials have not yet issued a ruling, and the matter adds a layer of uncertainty to the already competitive ward race.

Local political observers note that any delay or reversal in the nomination could reshape the dynamics of the contest, where community affiliations and party loyalties play a decisive role.
