The suspension on Kota’s mayoral post has been lifted, and both BJP and Congress have submitted their mayoral candidates – BJP’s ward‑98 councillor Anusuya Goswami and Congress’s ward‑17 councillor Sunita Suman.
The Rajasthan government has removed the suspension that had kept the mayoral post of Kota Municipal Corporation vacant, clearing the way for fresh elections. With the legal hurdle cleared, political parties rushed to file their nominations for the coveted position.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) officially nominated Anusuya Goswami, the sitting councillor from Ward 98, as its mayoral candidate. Goswami, who has served as a ward representative for several years, is expected to leverage her local experience and party backing to contest the post.
The Indian National Congress countered by putting forward Sunita Suman, the councillor from Ward 17. Suman, known for her work in her constituency, will now challenge the BJP’s nominee in what is likely to be a closely watched contest.
